B. Salpalinja fortress area / Lahtela area, Vanttajankannas (Salpalinjan linnoitusalue / Lahtela, Vanttajankannas), Lämsänkyläntie 62, Kuusamo

Salpalinja was a defense line built near the eastern border after the winter war. It stretched from the shores of the Baltic Sea from Virolahti all the way to Savukoski in Lapland. In Kuusamo, the Salpalinja structures of the Lahtela fortress area have been restored to reflect the situation in the fall of 1944. The area also has a 4.5 km long Salpalinja fortress trail (Lahtelan-Vanttaja path), along which there are several signposts. There is also a memorial to fallen German soldiers near the parking lot on the shore of Lake Kuusamojärvi in the area.
